Melody J. Sullivan, CPA

Melody J. (Smiley) Sullivan, is the founder of “SMILEY CPAs”, a local Certified Public Accounting Firm established in July 1986 in Historic Downtown Franklin.

Melody J. Sullivan founded the first woman-owned CPA firm in Franklin, Tennessee’s Historic Downtown business district in July of 1986 after working as a staff accountant for one of Nashville’s most respected business owners and CPA firms, and serving as comptroller for a local food service company.

Focusing her energies and interest on the financial goals of her clients coupled with the integration of cutting edge accounting and tax strategies resulted in the firm’s immediate success. Today, SmileyCPAs is one of Middle Tennessee’s most respected CPA firms, serving dozens of Corporations and over 1,500 tax clients.

In November 2005, SmileyCPAs moved to the Offices Reserve at Cross Creek on Murfreesboro Road near I-65. “With more and more of our clients located outside the Franklin area, we felt it was time to go to a more central location that provided easy interstate access. This building fits the bill perfectly.”

Ben Wynd, CPA, IAR (Partner)

Ben Wynd, CPA, IAR, is a Certified Public Accountant with extensive management, technical and analytical skills, he brings considerable experience in various technical accounting, finance and SEC reporting roles.In addition, Ben is an Investment Advisor Representative and has passed the securities exam for the Series 65.

Ben was heavily involved Nashville’s healthcare industryas the Director of Financial Reporting at Tenet Healthcare/Vanguard. While at Vanguard he was actively engaged in working on the Company’s SEC filings, including Vanguard’s initial public offering in June 2011, comprehensive debt refinancing, overseeing the financial reporting of the Company’s health plans and supporting acquisition due diligence. His experience also includes working with national accounting firms (Taxation, Audit and Acquisition Due Diligence), as well as with the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

A graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, KY, he is a member of various professional and industry organizations as well as a currently serving as a Board of Director for Franklin Financial Network, Inc. (NYSE: FSB), and a Board Member for Outdoor Encounter, a community benefit non-profit organization. He and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Franklin, Tennessee and have a daughter and son.


Brad Smith, CPA, ABV, CVA, IAR (Partner)

Brad Smith, CPA, ABV, CVA, IAR, is a native of South Florida and moved with his family to Thompson Station, TN in 2013. Brad holds a bachelor degree in accounting from the University of South Florida and a masters in taxation from Florida Atlantic University. Brad is a Certified Public Accountant and is credentialed in business valuations by the AICPA and the NACVA. In addition Brad is an Investment Advisor Representative and has passed the securities exams for the Series 7 and Series 66 (as then administered by the NASD).

Brad has worked in public accounting since 1997 serving families and business owners in the areas of: accounting, income and estate tax compliance and planning, asset protection, business valuation and succession planning; wealth management; and IRS representation. Brad is married to Laurie and is a proud father of five sons.
